Samsung’s impending F490 and P720 touchscreen phones have been spotted outside of official press events with new details to match, says Russian site Mobile-Notes. The F490 (shown) is now known to include haptic feedback, vibrating the phone when a user touches a control on its 3.2-inch display; though slim, it has a 5-megapixel camera and (currently Europe-only) HSDPA 3G access. Its interface is better than that of the LG Viewty it will challenge on launch, the Russian report says.
The P720 is similar to what has been expected with a 3.2-megapixel camera and a smaller 2.6-inch screen; the device now carries the Duos name to reflect its dual SIM card slots that allow frequent use of two different services without losing phone numbers or suffering roaming charges. Neither phone has had an official release date set, though speculation places announcements of one or both at this year’s Mobile World Congress in February

Finding Out Your Firmware Version
To Unlock your iPhone or to upgrade one that is already unlocked, you must first find out what Firmware you are running. Follow the instructions below that apply to you.
My iPhone is already Activated
Its very easy to find the Firmware version on a phone already activated, just touch the Settings button, then General and then About. Scroll down the page to where it says “Version” and jot down what it says.
My iPhone is not Activated
Its a bit more difficult to do here. Ok, we are assuming that the iPhone is brand new here as if you just upgraded, you should know what firmware it is.
On the activation screen, slide to make an emergency call, then dial the following:
*3001#12345#*
and hit the call button. This will take you into field test mode, from here, click on “Versions” down the bottom. This will give you some information on the iPhone. It will tell us the Modem Firmware Version and the LCD Panel ID. Use this information to determine what Phone Firmware you are running from the table below.
Modem Firmware iPhone Firmware
03_12_06_G Firmware Version 1.0.0
03_14_08_G Firmware Version 1.0.2

And surprisingly not due to it being on the French network. It’s called that because of the extreme amount of bright orange used on this slider phone.
Its 13.3mm and a slider, I want a slider that thin to hit stateside, I love sliders, but they are always so thick, I guess this one is the exception. It has MP3 playback, a dictionary, camera, and 3G thanks to WCDMA.
Sadly though it will never see the light of day stateside, its headed only to Korea’s KTF network and will cost you the equivalent of about $372 USD. Oh, in case you were wondering, there is no T-DMB in this phone.

Colorware, the company that spruces up iPods, iMacs, iPhones, Zunes and Xbox 360s are coming back with a series of new items starting with BlackBerries on New Year’s Eve. If you don’t already have a BlackBerry Curve, Pearl or 8800 series, you can pick one up pre-colored directly from them. If you already do have one, you can send your current phone in for colorization. Then again, if you do have a BB, you’re probably some kind of corporate “business dude” that might not want their phones accessorized in this way. You be the judge. Thanks : GizModo

Perhaps striving to be as open as possible, Nokia is opening its door to Apple to collaborate in its upcoming Web portal called Ovi. According to CNN Money:
‘In Finnish, Ovi means door. And our door is open. Of course, Apple can get into our portal. We even invite (Apple Inc chief executive) Steve Jobs to do so,’ Anssi Vanjoki of Nokia was quoted as saying.
I don’t think the ever cunning Steve Jobs will appreciate this welcoming tone. For one, Apple is a very closed system when it comes to their popular products and services like iTunes and iPhone. Then again, you cannot rule out this possibility for Apple is slowly opening its iPhone to outside developers with its SDK on February 2008.
On the other hand, the undertone of this seemingly friendly gesture is maybe to taunt Apple and hype the openness of Ovi and its gang of accessible services including Skype, Flickr, YouTube, and many more. Well, this whole mobile lifestyle war is just getting started and it’s very interesting to see which player will emerge as leader at the end of the day.

Developed by Ikanos Consulting, this new application takes advantage of iPhone’s Safari browser to create a rich user-experience. They created a Web-renderer which can convert any device equipped with a Web-browser to become a Windows SideShow device. So, expect to see this invention in popular gaming devices like Sony PSP, PS3, Wii, and Nintendo DS.
However, it is not yet ready for public beta release. If you are interested to sign up in any application developed by Ikanos Consulting, you can send a e-mail to them at beta _at_ ikanosconsulting.com.
