Enter The AMD ATI Radeon HD 4850

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 | Computer with

When it comes to video cards, I am always looking for the latest and greatest ones available. All of the top manufacturers seem to be coming out with some new chipset or 3-D graphics engine that outperforms its predecessors. So, when I saw this new card I was a little excited.

AMD’s new ATI Radeon HD 4850 is very competitive with the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+. What’s even more exciting is the fact that this card seems to scale better in the dual-card Crossfire mode than anything that Nvidia has for the same price. The ATI card is also only single-slot architecture, which gives you more flexibility in the kind of system you can use it with.

The test numbers look pretty good as the ATI Radeon HD 4850 stands up to the competition very well. The card costs around $199.00, so is still a good deal for the performance you get. The only problem I see is the fact that it tends to run very hot. That aside, it is a very affordable mid-range video card.
