Colorware, the company that spruces up iPods, iMacs, iPhones, Zunes and Xbox 360s are coming back with a series of new items starting with BlackBerries on New Year’s Eve. If you don’t already have a BlackBerry Curve, Pearl or 8800 series, you can pick one up pre-colored directly from them. If you already do have one, you can send your current phone in for colorization. Then again, if you do have a BB, you’re probably some kind of corporate “business dude” that might not want their phones accessorized in this way. You be the judge. Thanks : GizModo

Perhaps striving to be as open as possible, Nokia is opening its door to Apple to collaborate in its upcoming Web portal called Ovi. According to CNN Money:
‘In Finnish, Ovi means door. And our door is open. Of course, Apple can get into our portal. We even invite (Apple Inc chief executive) Steve Jobs to do so,’ Anssi Vanjoki of Nokia was quoted as saying.
I don’t think the ever cunning Steve Jobs will appreciate this welcoming tone. For one, Apple is a very closed system when it comes to their popular products and services like iTunes and iPhone. Then again, you cannot rule out this possibility for Apple is slowly opening its iPhone to outside developers with its SDK on February 2008.
On the other hand, the undertone of this seemingly friendly gesture is maybe to taunt Apple and hype the openness of Ovi and its gang of accessible services including Skype, Flickr, YouTube, and many more. Well, this whole mobile lifestyle war is just getting started and it’s very interesting to see which player will emerge as leader at the end of the day.

Developed by Ikanos Consulting, this new application takes advantage of iPhone’s Safari browser to create a rich user-experience. They created a Web-renderer which can convert any device equipped with a Web-browser to become a Windows SideShow device. So, expect to see this invention in popular gaming devices like Sony PSP, PS3, Wii, and Nintendo DS.
However, it is not yet ready for public beta release. If you are interested to sign up in any application developed by Ikanos Consulting, you can send a e-mail to them at beta _at_ ikanosconsulting.com.

More importantly, this compact and stylish PDA phone is a relief to users who need strong 3G performance, particularly when they travel to different countries or require high speed data transfers. Connectivity to WCDMA, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS is also a plus factor for this slim silver smartphone.
When it comes to GPS navigation, it is loaded with GPS Catcher to pinpoint the user’s exact location, TMC (Traffic Message Channel) to get the latest weather report and live local traffic information. One of its unique applications is Travelog which enables users to record and share photos, routes, POIs, and memos for future viewing.

Unfortunately, retail price is not indicated in the company’s announcement. But this is a Official announcement.

If you have a handset running on either Nokia S60 3rd edition or Sony Ericsson UIQ 3 then you can download and listen to mobile radio player, VirtualRadio, free of charge. However, it contains a “moderate amount of advertising”.
The free version will link you to more than 800 radio stations across the globe. Just go to your mobile Web browser, check the site www.vradio.org, and download the application. It’s basically a click-and-play radio player so you don’t have to type any URLs of Internet radio channels.
While the service is 100% free for compatible mobile phones, you will still need Internet connection to stream the songs. If you’re using a Wi-Fi then you don’t have to worry about a thing. But if you’re relying on your mobile phone operator for Internet access, make sure you have an unlimited data plan or flat-rate payment scheme to avoid paying shocking phone bills.

Ever since Gizmodo snapped photos of supposed Google-powered mobile phones, speculations abound regarding their debut. The pic above is an HTC (a Taiwanese company) manufactured Google Android smartphone prototype. It’s a hair’s width away from being hideous but people are pumped up for an early 2008 release. There have been talks of a Mobile World Congress release in Barcelona on February 11, 2008. It’s not too long ’til the Congress, folks. We’ll all be holding our breath until then.

Few weeks ago we told you that Asus M930W Communicator was on it’s way to Europe, for Q1 2008 release. Unfortunately, while we could tell you about some of Asus W930W specs and that it will come in a form factor similar to Nokia E90 communicator, we did not have the picture of it and had to resort to creative image editing. Now, thank’s to the French site GPS&Co, we can show you how ASUS M930 Communicator will look like:

Asus M930W indeed has a horizontal flip phone form factor, just like Nokia E90 or Toshiba G920, but can open at two angles - 90 and 180 degrees.

The known specs for Asus M930 include:
- Marvel PXA270M 520 MHz processor
- Windows Mobile 6 Professional OS
- Triband GSM (900/1800/1900), GPRS, EDGE, UMTS (2100 MHz) and 3.6 Mbps HSDPA connectivity
- 256 MB ROM and 128 Mb of RAM
- Wi-Fi b/g
- Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, MiniUSB 1.1
- MicroSDHC memory card slot

There’s one problem with what looks to be the real press/PR pics for Asus M930W, though.
What’s up with the really smallish inside display and tons of empty space around it? Is it just a bad Photoshop job or is the display really that small, which would be a pretty stupid thing for Asus to do?

There’s no lack of third-party gaming applications for the iPhone as it is - we have NES games, card games, puzzle games, and so on - and now we have PlayStation games. As expected, the psx4iPhone application has just been released through Installer.app, basically turning your iPhone into a PSP with touchscreen controls!
The developer, zodtt, had previously kept their iPhone PlayStation emulator private - only accessible through a paid-beta program. Well, now us lay-folk can have at it. Fire up your Installer.app and find psx4iPhone. Install the emulator and you’re ready to start installing PlayStation ROM’s!
Install the SSH client that is freely available through Installer.app and transfer (via SFTP - CyberDuck works great on Macs) your PS ROMs to the iPhone. Find your iPhone’s IP address by viewing the details of the WiFi connection (hit the little arrow to the right of the connection name). SFTP to your iPhone’s IP address and upload the ROM to the /var/root/Media/ROMs/PSX directory. That’s it, you’ll be up and running in no time.
We have a feeling that a good number of productive hours are going to be spent playing PlayStation games on our iPhone. Oh well.
Check the video below to see how psx4iPhone works.
